Qualifying
This time around, I hadn't had much practice, so I didn't feel too comfortable in the car. I was struggling especially getting the power down out of the slow corners, mainly T1, T4 and T14. My banker lap was fairly far off the pace, so I was constantly aiming to go quicker. I eventually got my head down long enough for 1 quick lap, which was good enough for P4, my teammate Max just half a tenth ahead in P3. I was 2 tenths off the pole time which I was rather impressed by, considering I wasn't settled in.
The Race
The race started as good as it possibly could, with a perfect getaway (as seen here). I went from starting 4th to being alongside my teammate for the lead going into turn 1. Jakub Kalbarczyk, who started in 1st, got a fairly bad start and ended up spinning due to massive wheelspin off the line.
I grabbed the inside for turn 1 and was into the lead by turn 2. I began pulling away from Max as he battled with Szymon Kuczyk behind. He eventually sealed 2nd and both of us began pulling a gap to the cars behind. Fast forward a few laps and he was on my tail. I made a mistake and we agreed he would go ahead. A few laps before my pit stop, I noticed that my fuel was depleting more rapidly than I had anticipated. I could only make it to just under half race distance, however me and Max had decided that he would pit first. So this meant that he had to pit a lap or two earlier than expected, so that we could retain the strategy. It ended up playing out nicely though, as no one else got close and Max and I held on to 1st and 2nd respectively. The remainder of the race was fairly uneventful and we finished with our second 1-2 of the season. A great start to the season and I hope we can keep this momentum up throughout the season.
Thank you all for reading.
Thanks,
